The notebook is a gift for my daughter as part of a themed Christmas surprise. It arrived perfectly packaged and in excellent condition. Dealing with Dingbats has been a very positive experience and their communication is first class. I would strongly recommend both them and their products.
I would have given a 5 Star review. Such a great notebook! The one I am reviewing is the A6 Bear pocket book. Only I inserted a fountain pen inside the pen loop. The fountain pen may have been a little more wide than could fit inside. To my knowledge it seemed to fit okay. I tested it, wrote in it, and thought I found the perfect notebook. The quality of the paper is my favorite feature. I used it at home did not carry it out of the house. After about two weeks after I purchased it the pen loop with the fountain pen inserted started to come unbound from the book. The elastic on the pen loop started coming apart from the seam and I could not push it back in place too well. Right now while I’m working in another notebook I don’t have a pen inside my Dingbats notebook and I also put the elastic strap the holds the pages together unstrapped. I do have a slimmer fountain pen I might use instead inside the pen loop to see if it helps.
I’m madly picky about what books I write in. I was an immovable patron of a different notebook brand out of Chicago for almost 10 years. I hope people understand how difficult it is to switch formats after that many years. But the pleasantly cream pages, availability for different page layouts, perforated sheets (still strong, though), flatness even with the pocket version, bookmark, folder, elastic band, pen holder, and the greener factor from other brands... it became easy to switch after the first couple uses. And for someone who uses a heavy and archival ink, this is some of the best paper I’ve had the joy of writing/ drawing on. Plus, the hell I put my books through, the binding in this must be super well done. Though I will always love the brand that I started with and that those archives will always have their place on my shelf, I doubt I’ll be looking back or for anything else any time soon. Absolutely love it and appreciate it.
And let’s be real, the animal designs are awesome; fitting a dusty woodshop as easily as a cute/ whimsical desk. The photo I attached was the first doodle I tried for a test. Pencil would look great too, but I just love how jet black ink looks on these pages.
